Its football team was participant to five Rose Bowls where in the most recent in 2014, they even defeated Stanford University. Of the five Rose Bowl participations they have a record of only one loss and that was way back 1966 where UCLA defeated them. As for their men's basketball they have won two NCAA championships and theirs is the alma mater of NBA Hall of Famer, Magic Johnson. In an overall scale, MSU has 12 intercollegiate sports for the men and for the women, 13.
