The United States is a home to a lot of people of different cultures and races. There are a number of these individuals who belong to tribes of indigenous persons. They clothe themselves in a distinct manner which is considered as odd. They also talk using a different language and they can only understand a few English.

Because of the differences of these individuals, they are usually a target of racial discrimination. This is especially the case with places like New York, NY where they only constitute less than a percentage in population. Since this is the case, there are Native American organizations NYC being formed to be able to help these individuals out, especially the younger generation.

An organization may conduct seminars and trainings to the individuals who are not members of any clans or tribes in their community. The seminars let these people become aware of their culture which is why they talk and dress in a certain manner. Those who attended the seminars are usually able to gain understanding about their cultures and their histories. With this, racial discrimination will be eliminated, or if not, at least minimized.

Many researches are done that are directed towards the cultural growth of their populace. These researches are oftentimes conducted by the elders of their specific tribes. There are events and concerts which serve as fund raisers to help the association in funding these endeavors.

They usually also provide financial assistance to their kinsmen who are in dire need of something. The individual or a member of his family may be sick and needs medical attention. His house may be burned down by the fire and that he needs financial assistance to be able to build it back up. He may also be needing capital to be able to start a business that could also help their community.

There are a lot of the children belonging to these tribes that do not have enough money to attend school. These kids have the interest to attend school so that they can learn. They believe that with this knowledge, they can help in uplifting their lives and their families. Scholarships are being provided to them.

Health care are given to the elder members of the populace. A number of jobs can also be provided to several persons who are unemployed. There are affiliated agencies that the organization may recommend so that they can avail of the exclusive services offered to them.

These individuals, like any other, are also entitled to certain privileges under the law. The association will make sure that the members get their privileges. They also make sure that their rights are upheld such as their sovereignty.

There are also a number of these organizations who help with legal matters. There are certain cases where a member of the community may be in conflict with a corporation or an agency of the government with regards to the use of their lands or natural resources. They usually are composed of intellectual indigenous experts who are knowledgeable in this field.
