Discover More About The Black American History

We all have an origin, that is, where our ancestors came from or simply our roots. Everybody wants to know what happened in the past that led to their birth and what made them be where they are at the present moment. It is because of this that many scholars have emerged to try and put pieces together and explain the past so that our existence can have some sense. Black American history is the commonest past of human kind that has been described by scholars.

The history has explained why there is an existence of blacks in a country known to be for the whites and what made them come there. According to scholars the African- American were brought to the United States as slaves. They were captured from their country against their will and brought there. It was said that they were at the mercy of the whites whom they referred to as their masters.

The blacks were given names such as the colored people or Negro just because of their skin color. There was discrimination and it was evident by these names. Good schools, churches, restaurants etc. Belonged to the white people while the bad ones belonged to the blacks which evidently show differences in social classes.

As this discrimination and slavery continued things became bad, the African American could not take it anymore and thought they had had enough. They started protesting to be treated as humans and they wanted to be given equal rights as well. Nothing could calm them down until their voices were heard, and as history dictates they finally achieved their goal.

Though at first it was a bit hard to accept what the African Americans wanted, it was later taken into consideration and was accepted. People such as Martin Luther were known to be on the fore front in fighting for the rights of the blacks. He united the whites and the blacks through his historic speech he made in the year nineteen sixty three. It was then realized that the two parties could actually exist together in peace in the same country and that they could help each other in difficult situations.

Today, both the white skinned and dark skinned people in the United States had agreed unanimously to have a black president. Both now have equal rights and freedom and discrimination is a thing of the past in this country and also worldwide. Black and white have intermarried, schools, jobs, churches and everywhere else belong to both.

In their calendar, February is known as African- American month in which the blacks remember their history. Names such as Negro or colored which were used before are not allowed and if any one dares to such the names it can lead them into serious charges. It is for this reason that racists also find themselves in serious problem when they are not careful.

It has been seen that the past helps us knowing and identifying where we come from but it does not determine who we are or what will become, the most important thing is to focus on the future and let the past be.
